Buccaneer Field

The home of Charleston Southern Football, Buccaneer Field, has played host to the Bucs since the program started play in 1991. Seating capacity stands at 4,000, but has seen sold out crowds of 8,000 or more. Most notably, CSU hosted crosstown rival The Citadel on Dec. 5, 2015 in the first round of the FCS playoffs, a game that was attended by a standing-room crowd of 8,451 fans.

Renovations in 2021 improved the grounds at Buccaneer Field with the installation of state-of-the-art field turf. The design features CSU's new Bucky athletic logo at midfield and a navy background in the end zones with "BUCCANEERS" in the new large, watermark. The addition of turf was one of two major projects for Buccaneer Field and the stadium area. The addition of "Buccaneer Plaza" was completed in the summer of 2015, and added a new entryway, wrought-iron fencing, ticket booths, and landscaping to the front of Buccaneer Field.

CSU debuted football under lights for the spring game and opened up the 2014 season with the first night game in school history.

Buccaneer Field played host to a program defining win in 2013, when an overflow crowd of more than 6,000 fans watched the Bucs knock off then-No. 3 and undefeated Coastal Carolina. CSU went 4-1 at home that year as part of a single-season program record 10-win campaign.

In 2005, a crowd of almost 4,000 witnessed CSU stage a dramatic comeback to defeat Coastal in overtime and grab a share of the Big South Conference title for the first time ever.
